The Panic of 2008 – Production begins

Tom Woods’ book Meltdown: A Free Market Look at Why the Stock Market Collapsed, the Economy Tanked, and Government Bailouts Will Make Things Worse spent 10 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.  We are adapting this book into a feature length documentary, The Panic of 2008, which Tom will be narrating.  The difference between this film and Academy Award Winner Inside Job is the story we tell is actually backed up by the people who understood what was happening before it happened.

We will also be releasing the raw footage from a new interview each month between now and the film’s release next spring.   If you don’t want to watch an hour long interview, check them out as mp3′s or just read their transcript.   If you feel that you get more value out of these interviews than what you paid for them, ($0) please consider pre-ordering the documentary or buying one of our books.

At some point in 2012, we plan on hosting a panel with as many people from the documentary as possible.  They will watch one segment of the film at a time, pausing to discuss their reactions.  This footage will be available on The Panic of 2008 Blu-ray, but we also hope to use it in combination with the corresponding segments from the film as a 4 part television mini-series.

Thanks to the Supreme Court ruling Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, we are allowed to express our right to free speech and promote this documentary leading up to the 2012 election.  We will invite every Presidential candidate to be interviewed for the film, but so far former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson is the only one confirmed.   Governor Johnson also filmed this short promo for us at the Chicago Federal Reserve.  For the sake of full disclosure: Writer/Director Jimmy Morrison is the Iowa Grassroots Coordinator for Gary Johnson 2012.  Writer/Narrator Tom Woods chairs Revolution PAC‘s advisory board.
