Jaunas JAV filmų režisierius Jimmy Morrisonas: „Paskaitų klausiausi ne auditorijose, o dažydamas namus“

Bad Google Translation

Young American film director Jimmy Morrison: “I listened to lectures outside the classroom, while painting the house”

With a new film director, Jimmy Morrison (USA), we talk about how he changed the university to home painting, how he was listening to lectures on economics while studying and eventually setting up his film-making company. An example of the fulfillment of the American dream.

Jimmy Morrison will be in Lithuania and in the movie theater “Pasaka” in April to tell everyone interested in the economy (or films) about his latest documentary “The Bubble”. He is about the economic crisis that started with the “bubble” of the US real estate.

“Why the crisis?” I ask. Mr Morrison replies: “The US government is repeating the same mistakes that triggered the crisis. Politicians are appealing to voters, and people simply do not know what the dangers lie in behind a reckless monetary policy and state intervention. ” But about everything from the beginning. We start the conversation from the university bench …

The University is not the only way to learn

Although Mr Morrison was baking the student’s bread, it was not long before the university. To the question of why economics was thrown by J. Morrison, he replied: “I wanted to study, but the university was not the most appropriate way for me to do this. Instead of teaching from lecturers (who, in fact, learned from me), I decided to learn from those who, in my opinion, are the best economists who have ever lived. I found them at the Mises Institute, which provides free e-lectures on economics, books available to everyone. Therefore, I listened to lectures outside the classrooms, while painting the house. That’s how I could make money, which I then invested in my film-making company. ”

“Instead of teaching from lecturers (who, in fact, learning from me), I decided to learn from those who, in my opinion, are the best economists who have ever lived.”

The director says that 2006 was not really the right time to start a business, but there was not even a sense of crisis. This was the result of Morrison Painting, the house painting business, and later the film-making company Patience Productions. Jimmy usually explains what led to the 19-iolik station on their feet: “First of all, I like to do what’s important for me, I’m not indifferent. I can not work for other people, I simply do not want my life to be controlled by others. My first i.e. painting, business has given me time to think. And what do I really want to do in life? ”

“If I were just making films, I would have gone bankrupt”

J.Morrison commented briefly on the continuing popularity of higher education in Lithuania and the rather traditional school-university-work scenario that young people choose: “If someone does something in the same way, it’s always worth considering the possibility of doing it differently.” According to him, finding opportunities to meet the needs of people in a way that no one has ever done, and is the beginning of business and every entrepreneur.

Mr Morrison did not have the advice to start his own business. First of all, it’s important to have more than one source of income: “If I was just creating movies, I would be bankrupt. Home coloring helped pay bills when movie making could not. ”

Secondly, choose an area that is important to you, interesting, which you can and want to deepen: “I also tried to start the software business, but I did not succeed. If you do not pick the right area, you will not be able to invest all the time that is simply necessary for the business to succeed. ”

Third, a good team is always important: “It’s not important to try to do everything on one, hard days, and it’s very important to have a shoulder to rely on as a bell. Instead of trying to become an expert in all areas, find those who are already there today. From co-operation only to win. ”

Making movies is to be yourself

The idea behind the documentary “The Bubble,” according to the director, is to tell the bubble of the US economy with the lips of those people who predicted the crisis: “Even after they turned out to be right, no one questioned them – why? I saw a niche, needs that were not implemented … And I worked hard and hard, until I eventually formed a team that can not fail. Ron Paul, Marc Faber, Peter Schiff, Joseph Salerno, Jim Rogers and others are talking about the causes of the economic crisis. ”

To meet and talk to all the interlocutors, J. Morrison drove 30 thousand. miles away. More about the difficulties in filmmaking J. Morrison is not keen to discuss: “There are difficulties encountered in starting any business, not necessarily in the creation of films. So everything does not depend on the difficulty, but how it works with them. The best way is to simply solve problems and move forward. ”

The director once again emphasizes that the economic knowledge necessary to make this film out of the body of the idea is appreciated by the 21st century, technology and free content. In order to create a comprehensive picture of the economy, he studied both the views of the Austrian economy and the representatives of the keynote economics.

Mano pirmasis, t.y. dažymo, verslas suteikė man laiko pagalvoti.

Filmas „The Bubble“ režisieriui svarbus ir asmeniškai.

Co-written by NY Times bestselling author Tom Woods, THE HOUSING BUBBLE is a critical, non-partisan examination of the policies and events that shaped the United States economy into one bursting bubble after another.

Traveling the world for answers after starting a house painting business just in time for the crash, filmmaker Jimmy Morrison drove over 35,000 miles to track down the experts who saw it coming, seeking to understand the root causes, so that we can avoid being blindsided by the bigger bubbles and the inevitable crises that follow.

Informative, eye-opening, fresh, funny, and occasionally shocking, THE HOUSING BUBBLE skillfully de-mystifies the boom/bust link between the stock market, the FED, and the housing market for the economist and layperson alike.

Bonus Features include The Story Behind The Bubble films, which began shooting in May of 2011.  An early teaser premiered at Freedom Fest in front of over 1,300 people in 2012, followed by a panel featuring Tom Woods, Peter Schiff, Doug Casey, and Gene Epstein.  The film was finally shown there in 2018, winning an Audience Award at the Anthem Film Festival.  They added 50 seats after 250 were filled and there were still over a dozen people who stayed to watch from the hallway through the door.  The film was released digitally on June 26, 2019 with a sold out NYC Premiere at the legendary Angelika Film Center.  This panel was moderated by Fox Business’s Liz Claman and featured Jim Grant, Peter Schiff, Gene Epstein, David Tice, Tom Woods, and Jimmy Morrison.
