End of the #postcrashrelease

It’s time to end the #postcrashrelease series. 4 months ago, I was in a car accident that punctured both my lungs, tore a muscle in my back, sprained my foot, required some stitches in my knee, and took about 6 weeks to recover from.

After passing out from the pain of pushing my hernia in, I had crossed 3 lanes of traffic and a busy intersection before hitting a pole at 45 miles an hour. My airbags did not go off and my seatbelt failed to lock, so my face smashed into the radio, giving me a concussion. The pole stopped me from launching across a 4-lane divided highway.

That night, Molly slept on the floor in the ER and Kelsey didn’t sleep. This could have been the last picture they had of me. Needless to say, I’ve reflected on my life a lot the past few months, and this series was meant to help me with that process. Sure, getting likes on Facebook is nice and everything, but this was really about me and not people’s reactions to me.

I thought my response to a near death experience would be focusing on what I haven’t done. Instead, my focus has been on how I do things. So much of my life has been dedicated to earning external validation, and I’m trying to get over that. I no longer care how many people watched my videos or at least I try not to. I don’t even care as much about the finished products, other than the joy of getting to watch them.

It’s all about the experience. Sometimes it’s fun and sometimes it’s a struggle, but life is not the things we’ve made or the things we have. LIFE IS THE EXPERIENCE.

Final tally: 115
The Bubble: 26
Music Videos: 22
Iowa Patients for Medical Marijuana: 20
Raw Concert Footage: 20
Shorts: 20
Politics: 4
Rocksteppy – The Movie: 3

So on that note, I’m releasing a new music video tomorrow and you should all watch it and like Jimmy Morrison on Facebook!
