Jimmy Morrison returned to The Jan Mickelson Show to discuss why he started Iowa Patients for Medical Marijuana.

Jan Mickelson – “I should describe this young man to you. He’s extremely well dressed. He’s got a suit and tie.”

Jimmy Morrison – “The main thing we need to look at right now is that there are medical patients who need it, who are going to jail because they are using it, even if a doctor recommends it. The only thing standing in their way is a bureaucracy in Des Moines that stands to lose a lot of money, because our bill would actually create nonprofit dispensaries. So pharmacists could lose money if our bill is passed, but what our government has decided is we’re going to leave that decision up to the Board of Pharmacy.”

“The interesting thing about our scheduling laws is in Iowa methamphetamine, and cocaine, and opiates all have accepted medical value. So we’re actually sending the message marijuana is not a medicine, but meth is a medicine.”

Jane (Therapist) “I just want to say that I see a lot of people with bipolar disorder and there is not one that has ever told me that the medication that they get provided by the medical system works better than marijuana. Marijuana will level them out and not give them all the side effects. And I would be 100% behind that, because I think they can function.”
